First Visit
Your first visit here at Signature Dental will consist of a quick office tour, an introduction to our staff members, and an interview to find out what your expectations and desires are. Feel free to help yourself to our concierge services while you familiarize yourself with our facilities and enjoy our educational movies on our digital HD TV in the patient lobby. After you’ve had time to be welcomed, Dr. Holtery will then proceed with a thorough examination to evaluate the current condition of you teeth and gums. X-rays and pictures will be taken to help us correctly diagnose any potential disease, because often times these problems are not obvious or painful. We will do everything we can to address your most immediate needs and concerns in a timely manner. Occasionally, treatment can be performed the same day as your initial visit. However, some patients may have a complex medical history or have the need for an advanced treatment plan, and will require an evaluation and a second appointment to accurately present complete treatment needs on another day.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:
- A list of your current medical prescriptions
- The completed Medical History and Patient Questionnaire that was mailed to you
- If you have dental insurance, bring the completed forms and Insurance Card. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
IMPORTANT: A parent or guardian must accompany all patients under 18 at the consultation visit.
*Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to your visit (i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves and joints, rheumatic fever, etc.) or if you are on any medication (i.e. heart medications, aspirin, anticoagulant therapy, etc.)

Dental Insurance
Congratulations! If you have an indemnity or a PPO insurance plan you have the wonderful freedom to choose any dentist you like! Just like our patients who are not restricted by any insurance. Your dental plan is a form of compensation provided by your employer. That portion is determined by the contract between your employer and the insurance company. The higher the premium paid by your company, the more generous the benefits.
We want to help you receive the maximum benefits to which you are entitled. As a courtesy to you we will call your insurance company to learn how you can utilize your benefits in our office. We will also gladly provide dental x-rays and a written diagnostic report and file them electronically to help you maximize your benefits
Infection Control
Infection controls and universal precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from rigorous infection control — you, your dentist, and the dental team. The cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss this topic with Dr. Holtery and receive a straightforward answer.
Dr. Holtery and our entire team follow procedures recommended by several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:
- Disinfectant hand soap
- Gloves and face masks
- Chemical disinfection of countertops and surfaces
- Sterilization of all equipment before every use
- Disposable materials
We sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces. We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.
The best defense against disease is information. The more you know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about your health care. The more you know about our daily procedures and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
